Jana’s Gymnastics

Rules & Policies

Our Philosophy

We are a fun gymnastics program that is dedicated to helping every child reach their fullest potential, both physically and mentally.  We believe that gymnastics training provides the best possible foundation in physical fitness, emphasizing the development of strength, flexibility and coordination, the basics of all sports.  Regardless of their physical talents, all children benefit from gymnastics activities.  Therefore, we strive to create a safe, secure atmosphere that develops, in each student, self-discipline, self-confidence and enthusiasm, as well as gymnastics skills.

Gymnastics Class Structure and Gym Rotations

All of our classes are separated by age and ability to insure the safest and most positive learning environment.  The gymnasts will be using all of the Olympic events as well as the Tumbl Trak. Gym rotations are well planned in advance.  A gym rotation is the schedule that each class follows during the regular class hour.  It consists of warm-up exercises and one of the rotation events.  Rotation events are Floor Exercise, Balance Beam, Uneven Parallel Bars and Vault.  In our Preschool Program, the children use all of our gymnastics equipment. We also offer Special Programs for Cheerleading , Martial Arts and Boys’ Power Tumbling.  These programs are designed to teach very specific skills and do not include all of the rotations mentioned above.

Payment

Payment is due at the time of registration.  Monthly payments are due on the 1st day of each month.  Late payments are subject to late fees.  There is a $30 fee for all returned checks.

VISA/MasterCard

We accept Visa and MasterCard to make it more convenient for you to pay for lessons and accessories.

Holiday Policy

We will close for all major holidays.  Sessions will be pro-rated for those days that are closed for a holiday.

Bad Weather Policy

When Plymouth School System announces that their schools will close or have an early release due to bad weather, we will also close for that evening.  If the weather is bad, tune in to Channel 22 (WSBT) or call the gym and listen to the message to see if classes have been cancelled.  If Plymouth School System has a delay, there will be no morning classes.  If Plymouth Schools close due to fog, we will still have class that evening.  Missed classes due to bad weather can be made up during open gyms on Friday evenings.  Open gym is 6:30—7:30 PM on Fridays.  Open gym is a time to practice skills taught in class.  There is no charge for an open gym used as a make-up.

Class Size

We try very hard to keep our student/teacher ratio low so each child receives the attention they need.

Basic Gymnastics Skills Lists

Basic gymnastics skills lists are kept for each gymnast.  Each class has skills and goals to be achieved. When skills are mastered at one level the gymnast then moves on to the next skill level.

What to wear

Girls need to wear a leotard. Shorts, warm-ups etc. may be worn if needed.  NO Tights Please!  We like our feet BARE!  Hair needs to be pulled up and away from the face.  Boys need to wear shorts and a tucked in T-shirt with sweats over if needed.

Make-Up Policy

Open Gym is the designated make-up time for missed classes.   Make-ups can be used during any open gym that is convenient for you.  It does not have to be within the session in which you missed the class, but you must have a current registration to utilize open gym.  Open Gym is Fridays 6:30—7:30 PM.

Open Gym

Open Gym is a time for currently enrolled students to practice what they have learned during their class time.  This gym time will be monitored by Jana’s Gymnastics Staff but there will be no structured class.  Cost is $5.  Open Gym is Fridays 6:30—7:30 PM.

Private Lessons

Private Lessons can be scheduled.  Cost is $25 for a 25 minute lesson for one person.  Cost is $15 each for shared private lessons.  Group Lessons are available.  Call for prices and available times.

Competitive Team

When a gymnast has shown mastery of Level 1 and has a basic knowledge of Level 2, she may be invited to join our pre-team.  Pre-team practices 2 hours a week.  When a gymnast has mastered pre-team skills she may be invited to Competitive Team.  Competitive team members have the chance to travel to other gyms and compete against other gymnasts in their same skill and age level.  Team members receive a discounted rate for the number of hours they get to spend in the gym but are also required to participate in all shows and demonstrations.

Extra Classes

It is a fact that the more you practice, the better you get.  With this concept in mind, we offer a second class at a reduced price.

Sleep Overs

Several times a year we host sleep-overs.  The sleep overs involve gymnastics related games and play.  Gym members receive a discount when attending a sleep-over.

Cheer Tumbling

Tumbling classes are available for jr. high and high school aged girls and boys.  The main focus of these classes is the backhandspring and backhanspring series tumbling.  This class also does not require a 6 week commitment.  Students desiring this class are usually the busiest, so we have come up with a pay as you come plan for this class.  Cost is $10 each time you come to class.

Jana’s Gymnastics sees gymnastics and cheerleading as a tool to train children in life’s more important lessons.  Respect for others, self-respect, loyalty to one’s team, responsibility, self-discipline, trustworthiness, honesty, commitment and follow-through.  These are just some of the real lessons being learned through our gymnastics lessons.  It is our hope, years after a child has moved on from their gymnastics experience, that they will look back and see the lifelong benefits that the training gave them.  It is then that we will know that we have done our job well.
